"Find a new fandom" sounds rather sensible, not that you have to abandon the older one.

Somehow my Doctor Who-ness is of a different order to anything else. Its roots are ancient and deep. I do often wish that I could have the same recall I have of its details of character, theme and background for other interests and enthusiasms. It's been a comfort blanket for a long, long time, in its way, and there are good and bad features of that.

I just wish I could remember the birthdays of friends and family as easily as I can remember Who trivia...

Items 2 and 6 are consistent with seeing more of each other, so I approve :-)

All well and good but there's on 30 days left. Any ideas for 2008 resolutions?

I hadn't noticed! Drifting backwards in time already. Perhaps I will meet myself?

I don't think that you will find a better Tolkien

I agree. I once heard someone in a bookshop make the case for Terry Brooks, but a better critic than me has explained why some people might think this comparison appropriate. (I haven't read any Brooks, but doubt I'd agree with his bookshop admirer.)
