Torchwood 2.13: Exit Wounds

Well, that was all a bit flabby, with lots of hanging around for a majority of the regulars at any given time. Jack seems remarkably unfazed by spending 174 years buried under Cardiff. Was Chibnall emphasising now that Torchwood should deliberately act as a chorus to Doctor Who, with so many parallels signposted (with Blackpool illuminations, practically) between this episode and Last of the Time Lords? Tosh and Ianto, we hardly knew you.

Still, Eve Myles got to be assertive; Naoko Mori's performance was nice in particular; and a point of discontinuity between Doctor Who's Aliens of London and Torchwood was retconned so one element of fandom is happy.

So, all change for next year, if there is one. Chris Chibnall will no longer be head writer; and there's room for new faces, though the rumour mill insists that Owen has gone to make room for Martha.

Has Chibnall been banished for abominations perpetrated, or have they merely managed to dig up someone even more revoltingly talentless?

No - he's been headhunted by Kudos to be showrunner for their new series for ITV, Law and Order: London...

Good grief.

The reason I take all this so personally is that, you know, I make my living from words and would like to increasingly personalise those words. But if Chibnall is an indication of waht the public wants, then I should have stuck to typing fast.

Chibnall did write Adrift, which seemed a more heartfelt and genuine script than his others; and 'the public' accommodate a wide range of tastes.

Yes, but he clearly did Adrift just so that Exit Wounds would be all the more painful.

I saw the last ten minutes (we'd been watching the Inferno the excellent Dr Who story that RTD conveniently forgot on DVD)...

Even that ten minutes did go on... and on... and on...

Torchwood

When you attempt to have several cakes and eat them, all you do is put on weight...

...and I prefer Inferno too. One for BBC Four when they find an excuse to do an archive repeat, I think.
