Changing the play set as well as the toys

April 24th, 2009 (10:52 am)

Not only are both Jonas Armstrong and Keith Allen leaving the BBC's Robin Hood, it is reported today by The Guardian that production may move from Hungary to Scotland. I only dip in and out of this series, but thought that this year they'd finally found enough forest in Hungary that looked green; previous years seemed very dark for a character associated with the greenwood.

*g*
If the colour of the forest is what strikes you as the problem with the BBC's Robin Hood approach to the traditional story, you really can only have dipped in and out of it!

I do love the show, but I really think they should have called it 'Medieval Bandits in da Hood' and not pretended it was anything like Robin Hood!

This was my response to the second episode of the first series, which goes into a bit more detail!

Yes, I'd agree with all of that! And you're right it is more green this series.

(And Guy is back tomorrow! With probably-arse SisterSue. Why yes, I am shallow)

And the introduction of Tuck does seem to have injected a bit of heart into the outlaws - they do seem a little less sulky than before.

He seems basically to be Robin's manager, or chief of staff; a Leo to Robin's Jed Bartlett.
