Sad to hear of that; she was a good poet and really should have been laureate - better by far than Andrew Motion.

My favourite of her poems is BC:AD, but I like the one you linked to, too.

I didn't know BC:AD, but I like what it does.

Andrew Motion's laureate appointment seems of another age now, as it is; there is something austerely self-consciously intellectual about him, and a dryness to what I've read of his writing, which says something of the complacency of the early Blair period.

That was a set text for me at some point (GCSE, I think), one of the more interesting and enjoyable texts.

I like it, though the references are probably already dated. Still, it adds depth....
