A succinct summing up of what has been a debate characterised (on both sides of the Atlantic) by blind ignorance and misleading propaganda.

Slide 41 is the key one - almost nobody in the US (and certainly not Obama) is seriously advocating nationalising hospitals and in fact the provision of healthcare services for the whole country and having the entire scheme run by a massive state bureaucracy.

Unfortunately in the UK, politicians of all political parties universally think (with some brave exceptions) that the only way to ensure that the poorest people have access to healthcare is nationalising hospitals and in fact the provision of healthcare services for the whole country and having the entire scheme run by a massive state bureaucracy. It's one of those issues that you're not allowed to mention...
