American Citizenship Meme

August 31st, 2005 (11:06 pm)

Should I wish to change countries, it looks as if I can, though I admit that I am in no hurry, despite the large number of wonderful people in the US...

You Passed the US Citizenship Test

Congratulations - you got 8 out of 10 correct!

I knew you would pass. I'm just amazed you didn't get 10, what went wrong.

I got 5. Mostly as a result of some lucky guesses.

I've no idea what I got wrong - the only guess was about the number of times a senator could be re-elected, and everything else I thought I knew.

I got 9/10, and I would really like to know which guesses were wrong, because it would mean that all the others were right. I guess they can't revoke my passport quite yet, anyway.

If I recall correctly, you've actually lived in the US for a while.

I should have guessed that you'd get a good score for this! ^_^ I feel woefully ignorant on the subject of the American political set-up and history, although I suppose I could use the feeble excuse that I took history for only one year at school (the 3rd year) and promptly dropped it because it was so horrendously taught and I got awful marks in it. (Same applied to physics.) I should, however, know a little more about America than I do, with having plenty of friends from the US and from having attempted to learn about black history in the US.

I think that one can know lots about America without needing to know aspects of its constitutional history. I don't know what the real citizenship test is like, but I think it's similar to the meme.

9/10 first time, then I went back and saw it asked who wrote the Declaration of Independence, not the Consitution...

Now I'm feeling a little smug.

Then that's one of the mistakes I made...

You've lived in the US yourself, of course.
