Welcome to 2010, and in the part of the world I'm in, it's a very snowy one...

We have snow, too, although just a few flakes on the decking.

cute husky

I visited a friend in the Yorkshire Wolds this afternoon. My outward journey was fine. The afternoon there was fine. When I returned, a good four/five inches had fallen inbetween...

That's where the snow has gone from here, then... but it's believed it's coming back.

Thank you! It's not snowed for a while here now, but the sky is darkening again.

Happy New Year!

We had a light dusting of 4 inches or so yesterday and another such dusting is predicted for tomorrow. Apparently the 2-4 feet snowfalls usually arrive in Feb/March....

The fifteen foot (no exaggeration) piles of snow where the snow ploughs dump at the sides of roads and in parking lots are still there from 10 days ago, despite heavy rain having wiped away all the other snow inbetween the blizzard fall and Thursday's light one.

We weren't forecast any snow until Monday, according to a forecast of two or three days ago, but this proved very much mistaken. The family visit scheduled for today has not taken place as west Northumberland is even worse affected. This is just as well, as the kettle's electric cord was burned during cooking last night.

The 1mm of ice on the ground here is quite bad enough!
