"A library in your living room"

June 22nd, 2010 (05:31 pm)

I was alerted by a Tweet from the Institute of Historical Research that lots of potential readers don't know that this service from Oxford University Press exists, and that most library users in the UK will be able to access much of it through their local library's website using their library card.

Research has become a lot easier since I discovered how much I could access through my local library website, including a load of newspaper archives going back to before the Victorian period.

The OED alone is great. it has become my dictionary of choice for word origins and dates.

All it needs is access to BNB...

BNB would need a tie-up between publishers, though that's not impossible to envisage.
