Regarding anachronisms, I'd add that the witch-hunting sequence inevitably owed more to popular twenty-first century conceptions of witch-hunting as reflecting (Medieval) misogyny, superstition and mob rule rather than the more complex (Early Modern) reality, but the point is ti code Me as a dangerous (to the peasants) or admirable (to the audience) breaker of social codes and conceptions of femininity. Similarly with her drinking in the pub at the end despite being a richly-dressed woman.

Overall, I liked the episode and the sort-of two-part story, but I think it/they suffered from dwelling too much on the morality of the Doctor's actions and his age, something that I think new Who does more than is necessary.

Also, your link isn't working, although it does work if you copy and paste into the browser.

It's working for me in some circumstances - I had assumed that conversion to a link was a function of the site but it seems it's a function of particular browsers or mail environments. I'll change it.

I really liked this episode. Somewhere there's an alternate universe where the Doctor's companion is played by an actress as good as Maisie Williams.

And there's one thing that the whole premise reminded me of very strongly - the character of Hob Gadling in Neil Gaiman's The Sandman. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hob_Gadling

Someone involved is bound to know this character, and I'm sure you're right.
