The journey to Woodstock...

September 22nd, 2006 (10:11 pm)

current mood: tired

...started later than I would have liked as enquiries at one garage to do with my brakes (which needed a thorough clean, and are now much better and no longer squeaking alarmingly; there was no evidence of a fluid leak) led to a trip early this morning to another one to have my tyres replaced. This was done while I waited, but took up most of the morning. I left Castle Parrot at about 1.40pm, after lunch, the same time as my parents left to visit my grandfather and an elderly cousin in Co. Durham.

The journey back from Tyneside to Parrot Tower in Woodstock took seven and a half hours; most of this was spent in rain and fog and spray in Yorkshire, where traffic proceeded down the A1/M18/M1 at a stately 30mph for much of the time, or so it seemed. Northbound was worse, with the M1 all but gridlocked from Leicester to Sheffield. Sustenance in the early part of the journey was provided by coffee; in the second, by apples and water, which proved more efficacious in reviving me; I'd contrived to have about four hours' sleep last night somehow.

So, here I am, back at my computer, and transferring various pictures and videos from memory card to PC, one or two of which I might make public for others' entertainment.

I also learned today that Dame Brangien now has a second daughter; congratulations to her and her knight.

I've just posted some video, including some of me expounding, so that might help even if I can't materialise in person.
