Not to worry - it's still oddly profound, transforming the porch into a metaphor, and old hanging above all without a noun to call its own.

Strictly speaking a haiku is supposed to be about nature (there is a term for a poem with the same structure that isn't about nature, but I forget what it is).

What was that someone once said about it always being the 1970s somewhere in my mind?

But are you mad, in a coma, or back in time?
(And I still haven't seen more than a few minutes of Life on Mars)

The first is probable, if a bit flippant; the second is something I muse about sometimes anyway; and if I'm back in time when am I really from?

no-one born in the 70s can escape the 70s, it lurks, somewhere in our backgrounds, like a giant flared, corduroy THING, even if we were too young to be blamed for any of it.
