Rassilon's Rod

May 4th, 2010 (09:53 am)

More Doctor Whoness, as retro-format photocopied fanzine Rassilon's Rod has been pushed through my letterbox this morning, and brightened the day with its editorial page cartoons already. Time Flies! features a Doctor who is, in actual fact, a fly (and a tree stump Adric and a fox who is probably River Song, but I'm not sure); and there's another cartoon (the title gives it away - oh, all right then, The Strange Death of Amy Pond) which is a joyous three frame crossover between the current series and the world of the Doctor Who Weekly comic strips. Other highlights include an interview with Anneke Wills conducted at no less a place than the Cavern Club, which Polly would have no doubt found groovy and gear, and a couple of intelligent reviews of Warriors of the Deep, one pointing out how deeply misanthropic the whole thing is - "we are apparently so bad in the Doctor's eyes that even genocidal lizards rank above us." Worth tracking down - editor David MacGowan can be found on the Rassilon's Rod Facebook page. Only £1.50, too.

Of Rassilon

That does sound good - and gives me an excuse to use this icon!

They are very inventive. I like the elderly Brigadier ones, and the crinolined Victoria.
