Hmm, these days I'm afraid I'm as suspicious of NGOs and protest groups as I am of "The Establishment" and tend not to pass judgment on things based on internet reports; I even treat news reports with heavy suspicion. I'm curious as to what you mean about "the underreporting of Iceland" though.

I think Miriam is trustworthy.

As for Iceland, following the banking crisis, the reponsible politicians and financiers were arrested, tried and if necessary jailed, and the constitution is being rewritten to introduce additional guarantees.

Before clicking through, I thought there might be a positive spin to this: no discrimination in hassling. But clicking through, understand the context. Not good, not good at all.

There's a difference between calling attention to claims and necessarily saying that they are true.

I was simply reacting to worrying information. People can, will and should make up their own minds.

It's true that I had forgotten my own cynicism; last year's anti-tuition fees protests aroused my ire both for their violence, their lack of respect for many buildings and monuments in London and by extension the people they represented, and their bad politics.
