I thought I'd entertain myself, and possibly a wider public, by scanning a few pictures...

Strange coindidence. Pellinor and I (after far too much home-made wine) were just looking through old Arthurian Pilgrimage photos, and were just now looking at a picture well-nigh identical to your last picture here. It was quite uncanny to close the albums, wander to the computer... and see the same picture here on your LJ.

My main observation is how much I'd filled out between 1991 and 1993 - in 1991 I'm not sure that I ate at all, beyond college lunches and cup soups. This reminds me of rumours that one or two of the students of today live entirely on toast.

Oh heavens, it's the Beard of Fear! You looked more like a Senior Member then than you do now.

You do look amazingly slender. I suspect that shortly after the pictures were taken, you ate the dog. Thus all is explained.

I most certainly did not eat the dog, though there is some evidence that he attempted to eat me...

That (1987) would have been the last full year of O levels, wouldn't it?

I can't quite make out the posters on your wall, but they look interesting.

Beautiful dog. I don't suppose there's much hope that he is still with us after 19 years.

It was indeed the last year of O Levels. My school had been part of a pilot scheme, so I didn't do GCE O Level in English Language but instead did a '16+' assessment based on coursework and classroom testing outside the exam season.

The posters are mainly from Doctor Who Monthly, although one is a page cut from Radio Times and another is a painting by my eleven-year-old self of a badger by the side of the motorway.

Sadly the dog, George, died in 1993, aged about twelve.

Poster note

You can also see the notes to a typed list of popes, or possibly Holy Roman Emperors, on the upper right corner. This is how I decorated my bedroom in my teens.

Re: Poster note

It's funny how it's the fact of the list being typed that dates it now, not that it should be of Popes or Holy Roman Emperors!

Re: Poster note

I hadn't thought of that. I had an Olivetti in my teens, upon which I typed letters and unfinished plays, stories and even film treatments.
